This is what Nate Chinen of the New York Times had to say about our grouping of Chris Lightcap’s Superette and Aidan Carroll Quartet which will play TONIGHT at 9pm and 10:30pm respectively. Please come ready to hear amazing music and don’t forget to put $10 in the tip jar per set – 100% goes to the musicians – also a recommended minimum $10 purchase from the restaurant. They love to have us there, but they also like to serve us! Thanks again for all your support:
Superette/Aidan Carroll Quartet (Tuesday) This installment of the Konceptions series will feature one of the first outings by Superette, a rock-infused cooperative consisting of Chris Lightcap on electric bass, Jonathan Goldberger and Curtis Hasselbring on guitars and Dan Rieser on drums. After that hit, at 9 p.m., the bassist Aidan Carroll will play a 10:30 p.m. set with the saxophonist John Ellis, the pianist Sullivan Fortner and the drummer Joe Dyson. At 9 and 10:30 p.m., Korzo, 667 Fifth Avenue, at 20th Street, Park Slope, Brooklyn, konceptionsmusicseries.wordpress.com; $10 suggested donation, with a $10 minimum. (Chinen)
Come on out and see what we were thinking when we booked the strong pairing of Pete Rende, pianist with Loren Stillman’s band “Bad Touch”. Fantastic musicians abound on Tuesday August 20th with Bad Touch at 9pm and Pete Rende at 10:30p. As always a suggested donation of $10 per set / $10 restaurant purchase.
This is what Time Out New York had to say about the upcoming jazz at Konceptions Music Series:
Keyboardist James Carney’s valuable progressive-jazz showcase presents two strong outfits: the grouping of pianist Pete Rende, saxist Bill McHenry, bassist Matt Brewer and drummer Tyshawn Sorey (10:30pm), and saxist Loren Stillman’s outstanding working band, Bad Touch (9pm).
